About Goxhill Trader

By way of introduction, my name is Stephen Foster, and I am the webmaster for this site. Call me Steve when you email, everyone does, and I will always be as approachable and helpful as I can.

I am a Goxhill resident. I was born in 1956 in Cleethorpes, and was educated at Goxhill Primary School between 1960 and 1963. I lived in the South Manchester area for many years, was a Local Government Officer for 17 years, and subsequently ran my own property development businesses and garage business in Cheshire for 13 years before returning to my roots in Goxhill in 2001.

I like it here! When I had the idea for Goxhill Trader I believed I had found a way of combining my business skills with my knowledge of computers and the internet to produce something that would be of benefit to the local community and assist in boosting the local economy by putting people in touch with each other in a way that simply hadn't been possible before. More and more people now have computers, and I know how powerful internet advertising can be. It is my intention to continue to run the site as a free service (if at all possible), but it depends on you the residents to use the site at much as you can, to spread the word, and to support the advertisers, please. I believe this is the first community website of its kind in the country (if you come across another one, please let me know!). Another first for Lincolnshire! As it grows, with your help, it should evolve into an excellent service, and I will periodically change the format to match demand.

I hear the cynics amongst you asking "what is in it for you?" Well, as the internet continues to grow, it is my belief that every business, no matter how small, will eventually require a presence online. By that I mean its own website, even if it is only a simple one. I offer my services by arranging complete ready-to-go website packages at very reasonable rates to local businesses (click here for more details) and I hope local business owners will take advantage of the opportunity to get online and watch their businesses grow.
